Heineken: The Candidate

Goodmorning beerlovers.

Let start the day with a funny viral commercial from Heineken. Everybody knows how hard it is these days to find a job. Well the creative marketers from Heineken found a funny and interesting solution on how to pick the right person for the job.

In the commercial they made the job interview a little different than usual, holding the boss's hand, reviving the boss after he passes out and saving an employee after a fire.

And the great thing about this commercial is that one of the candidates really gets the job!

Let us know what you think of the commercial and how you would response in these situations. I know I would not feel very comfortable.

Westvleteren XII made it into the New York Times!

A few weeks ago I already talked about the Belgian beer Westvleteren XII and yesterday an article about the beer appeared into the New York Times, one of the most famous newspapers in the world! I would recommend every beer lover to read the article about the beer that has changed a lot for the people who live in this small town.

This is a perfect example of free publicity!

If you want to read the entire article, click on the link below:

William Lawson: no rules, great Scotch!

Let's make an exception... and talk about William Lawson. Everyone knows the whiskey brand and probably because of its amazing television commercials! I am sure that almost everyone will agree with me on this one; the advertising campaigns of this whiskey brand are awesome. They always know perfectly how to reach the consumers and the public in general.

Every year there is a competition for the best advertising campaign of the year and every time William Lawson is part of the selected commercials and it already won the prize of Best Commercial several times. That is why I really want to share these commercials with you! AND of course there is an additional reason... Girls, enjoy it!

Jupiler Force

Jupiler Force was launched a few years ago. Jupiler Force is a naturally brewed soft-drink that is alcohol free without colorants. Jupiler Force was created specially for men. It was a complete new product, it can't be compered with beer, cider or soft drinks. According to research Jupiler is mostly consumed from 5 p.m. so they searched for a drink that could be consumed during the rest of the day. When launched there was only one variety available. Below you can see the Jupiler Force commercial and the making of.

And now the final commercial:

However Jupiler Force wasn't an absolute success, the reviews of the customers were rather disappointing. Jupiler has launched 3 new flavors to react on the rather disappointing reviews of the Jupiler Force The 3 new flavors are:

- Fresh Lime: Bitter sweet taste with a lime punch

- Blood Red Orange: A refreshing drink with blood orange taste

- Zesty Hop: A soft drink with power and a taste of hop.

Let u know what you think of Jupiler Force & the commercial.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Banned commercials

Not all commercials make it to the television screen. Sometimes they are too rude, harmful, offensive, ... Below you can find some commercials that did not make it to the screen. Do you really think that it was the right decision to ban these commercials? Are they really too offensive for women? Please tell us your opinion.

Enjoy your evening!

Heineken - Beer Lipgloss

Heineken has launched a lipgloss with beer taste a while ago. Is this a way to reach a new target group or just a marketing action. I don't think many women would want to walk around all day with the taste of beer on their lips. On the marketing side on the other hand this is indeed a good move. Many people have/will talk about it which creates awareness for the brand. Below you'll find the commercial:

Has annyone tried it? What are your views?

Heineken says NO to dog fights!

A few days ago pictures of a Heineken supporting a dog fight showed up on social media as Facebook and Twitter. People were shocked and started sharing this picture, which lead to a crisis situation for Heineken that actually had nothing to do with it!

I was also shocked when I saw the picture circulating on the internet, if there is anything I hate it is definitely animal cruelty! Of course Heineken had to react to this and has done this by putting it straight, that the company has nothing to do with it!

This is what they call crisis communication and in the end I think they handled it very well! Things like these can damage your image in a second and can have major consequences for a company.

This is how Heineken reacted:

Images continue to circulate in social media channels showing a dog fight, with Heineken® banners clearly visible in the background. This is very distressing and totally unacceptable. As a company and a brand owner, we do not and would never knowingly support any event, outlet or individual involved in this type of activity. It is against our company and brand rules and - more important - against our company values.
Since this matter was brought to our attention via Facebook we have conducted an investigation and now know that:
  •  The venue is a nightclub in Mongolia
  •  The venue hosted a dog fight of which we had no knowledge and were not involved in any way
  •  The venue owner has verbally confirmed that Heineken® banners are visible in the pictures because the previous evening the club had been decorated for a promotional event and he had failed to remove the banners once it was over. This event was in no way related to the dog fight
Based on this we have taken the following immediate actions:
  •  Removed all remaining promotional materials from the venue
  •  Withdrawn all current product stock from the club
  •  Ceased our relationship, ensuring our brands will not be available in the club again
  •  Instructed our distributor to check every location where our brands can be enjoyed to ensure such illegal activities are not taking place. If there is any suggestion that they are, we will take the same action and remove our products
  • Continue to ensure our strict advertising and promotion guidelines are enforced both to the letter and the spirit of their intent
We want to thank our consumers on-line for bringing this issue to our attention. We are shocked and disappointed by these images. We fully understand the level of negative feeling amongst consumers based on what they have seen. We appreciate that the vast majority have asked for our point of view before making a judgment. We encourage our consumers to continue to use social media channels to alert us to any situation where they feel our brands are being misrepresented, so that we can take the appropriate actions.
This is what they call crisis communication and in the end I think they handled it very well! Things like these can damage your image in a second  and can have major consequences for a company!

Let's drink a Heineken and cheers,

Dominique

1664 - Eric Cantona Advertisement

Heineken the producer of Kronenbourg 1664 wants to position their brand as 'a reward for self-confident men'. They are trying to achieve this buy launching a new campaign with former Manchester United footballer Eric Cantona.

Eric Cantona: stars in Kronenbourg 1664 ad

The baseline of the campaign is: 'A Taste Suprême'.  In the campaign by Ogilvy & Mather, Cantona is sitting in a bar in the Alsace region of France. In the campaign French hop farmers are pictured as Footballers in England.
The Uk marketing director of Heineken said: 'the new campaign is a humorous homage to the farmers in Alsace who nurture the highly-prized Strisselspalt hops that give 1664 its exceptional taste and aroma.'

Don't forget the UK!

Before coming to the UK, I never thought one second about British beers. After one month, I know now that Carling is an English beer and that some of their commercials are too funny not to share them with you! Of course a commercial cannot always be funny, so that's why I also added a few other good commercials from the beer!

I really like the first commercial that is posted below, who does not want this man?!

Enjoy Valentine's Day!

Dominique

That calls for a Carlsberg - The Crate Escape

Last year Carlsberg changed their slogan from 'Probably the best beer in the world' to 'That calls for a Carlsberg'. In the beginning this seemed a strange marketing move since everyone was familiar with the 'Probably the best beer in the world' slogan. The old Carlsberg slogan was first used in the mid 1970s so it lasted for quite a while. According to Jorgen Rasmsusen, the chief executive from Carlsberg the change was necessary in order to compete with the booming Asian beer markets. In the Asian culture the 'Probably the best' part is a problem, it means definitely not the best. With the change Carlsberg hopes to increase their presence on this booming market.

Together with this new slogan came the first commercial, 'The Crate Escape' based on the movie 'The Grate Escape'.

The commercial shows the story of a few men who are going on wellness weekend with their girlfriend. The aren't exactly having the time of their lives until they see a Carlsberg factory through the window. They decide to build a tunnel to the factory and fetch a crate of Carslberg, 'That calls for a Carlsberg' off course. You can find the commercial below:

What are your thoughts on this commercial and the change of slogan?
Cheers,

Superbowl beer commercial 2013: Budweiser

With Super Bowl only a few hours away, we were curious about the new commercials that would be launched during this big event.
What we found was a commercial for Budweiser called "brotherhood".This time it's not a funny or sexy commercial like usually but a commercial with a sensitive side. The commercial features the Clydesdales, they represent the tradition, the heritage and the quality of the Budweiser brand.

Anheuser-Bush, the brewing company behind Budweiser, will be spending more than 20 million dollar on Super Bowl commercials in 2013.

Watch the commercial below:
